Ripple Bookcase

This bookcase, composed of solid walnut with steel legs and walnut feet was designed for a young couple looking for a piece to anchor their living room.

I find that one of the true joys of design is when a piece surprises me. In this case, I had not anticipated how the ripples on the top of the bookcase, evocative of the splashes of raindrops on the surface of a pool, would play with the pattern of the grain of the wood. I was also not prepared for the pure tactile pleasure of running one’s fingers over the undulating surface of the piece
