PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

March 2014-Present | Finne Architects | Project Architect | Seattle, Washingto

I am the senior project architect at this small firm. I have worked directly with the firm’s principal on the several large residential projects, including houses in Seattle, Bainbridge Island, Los Angeles, and south Florida, and a 3 story commercial office building in Seattle. On each of these projects, I produced the design development, bidding, and construction drawings, researched applicable codes and permit requirements, developed interior and exterior details, coordinated with the contractor and with the mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering consultants, and reviewed shop drawings from various fabricators. I also provided construction administration on the residential and commercial projects in the office.

In addition to these duties, I also produced 3d models of each project in Rhinoceros, to aid in the development of the design and communicating it to clients. I also expanded the digital fabrication and design capabilities of the firm, developing scripting tools in Grasshopper for Rhino to aid in the design development of several projects

September 2010-Present | Built Environment Wood and Metal Shop | Graduate Shop Assistant | Seattle, Washington

I worked in the College of Built Environments Shop during my graduate studies at the CBE. I assisted students using the shop equipment for school projects, using my experience in furniture design, construction, and digital fabrication. I also supported the furniture design studios which were held in the Shop each year.

June 2011- September 2011 | William Zimmerman Architects | Architectural Intern | Seattle, Washington

Due to the size and focus of this firm, I was able to be involved in all stages of the design process, from schematic design to permit submission to contract preparation. The projects I worked on ranged from new construction to additions and renovations.

Primarily, I helped prepare and revise construction documents for several projects. This included revising drawings under supervision of senior architects, and drafting new drawing sets, including plans, sections, detail drawings, wall sections, and interior elevations.

Additionally, I constructed detailed Sketchup models for several projects to assist senior architects during the schematic design and design development stages, and to present proposed designs to clients.

March 2010- September 2010 | Field Architecture | Architectural Intern | Palo Alto, California

While at Field Architecture, I assisted in the design and development of several projects by building site and concept models. Projects included

a private residence in the South African outback, for which I built a site model and several study models, an electric car factory and showroom in Hawaii, a private residence in Napa, and a conservation center in South Africa, which was awarded a 2010 Progressive Architecture Award by Architect Magazine.

Additionally, for several projects, I assisted in the creation of renderings for presenting designs to clients and communicating with collaborating designers

2008-2009 | Mevicon, Inc. | R&D Engineer | Sunnyvale, California

While at Mevicon, I led research efforts in the control of reflective optics for space telescopes and satellite dishes. As part of research efforts, I designed and constructed several pieces of custom high-precision experimental equipment.

2004-2008 | Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. | Mechanical Engineer | Sunnyvale, California

During my time at Lockheed, I was part of a multidisciplinary engineering team designing and constructing high-precision, high-performance opto-mechanical systems. I co-led efforts to create control systems for several different mechanisms, both prototype and deliverables.
