Split Chair

This chair appears as if it was formed from a single piece of mahogany, split and bent back on itself. Bent wood lamination makes the chair strong, yet flexible, and allows for the chair to feel as if it is springing from the ground, and hovering out in space. The creation of this chair was a fusion of digital and hand fabrication. The molds used to form the separate pieces of the chair were designed using Solidworks, which allowed for the precision required to have the two final pieces fit together seamlessly.
